Rep Powers Speaking at Rally
Representative Debo Powers was the first speaker at a local rally for state-wide candidates culminating with Kathleen Williams (U.S. Congress) and Steve Bullock (U.S. Senate). The rally was held on a cold, blustery day at the Fairgrounds in Kalispell. Participants sat in their cars to stay safe from COVID and the speakers were projected onto a big screen while their words were amplified by large speakers. There was lots of horn blowing and flag waving! It was a campaign rally for these times of pandemic!
“Powers for the People” is not just a campaign slogan. Loggers, hunters & anglers, kayakers, businessmen, teachers, musicians, and even dog-lovers like being represented by Debo Powers. The Flathead Beacon featured an HD3 Candidate Forum showing the difference in issues between Representative Debo Powers and her opponent.
During the past seven summers, Representative Powers has worked as a volunteer fire lookout. One of her fellow lookouts endorsed her candidacy in the Flathead Beacon.
Representative Debo Powers lives off the electric grid in a solar-powered cabin across the North Fork of the Flathead River from Glacier National Park in grizzly bear country. She has a garden and greenhouse and stores food in a root cellar. In addition, she heats with wood and cross-country skis every day during the winter. In the summer, she hikes on remote trails, mountain bikes, and floats the river when she isn’t staffing a fire lookout. She is a Montanan through and through.
The new Coram-West Glacier Volunteer Fire Station held an open house on Saturday. Rep Powers attended to show her appreciation for all of the people who work hard to protect our communities.
